Today, Tati hustles about getting the ladies of La Tienda to turn in their work.  Ismena diligently strings together beads for a little extra money.  Anis collects paper from her son after school for handmade paper.  Juana creates something new.  People in the church pray that God would bless their community.

I finally have learned that God’s blessing is not defined by what you have or don’t have, it’s about how He provides for us, how He gives us exactly what we need when we need it.

“There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.” Deuteronomy 1:31 (NIV)

Four months of work has been shipped out for sales in twenty packages.  The next shipment waits in the art coop storage room to be sorted and organized.  The women have been paid in full for this month, and La Tienda’s balance keeps going up to reach next month’s payday.  Items have been inventoried, new supplies have been purchased, and all work has been accounted for.  We have reached this place because the Lord our God carried us here.

I’m approaching four years of living in the Dominican Republic.  I do feel as though I am on my way out, but I will never really leave.  I always plan to come back and help Rachel with the art coop.  I have a connection with “mi gente” (my people), that I could never abandon.  It has been amazing to have experienced this in my life.  To see a school for poor children open, to watch them grow and learn, to help provide jobs to women in poverty, to build something, to cry with people, to laugh, to pray, to know people as they have grown spiritually.  And I thank the Lord for having reached this place.

God has always, ALWAYS shown me that I can trust Him to provide for me.  My plan is to stay through August in order to see two more La Tienda shipments go out.  August will complete a year of Rachel and I supervising the art coop into its new stage of independence.  It is crucial that I be able to fully train Tati, art coop manager and doer of ALL things, so that La Tienda can carry on and the women can have jobs.  We are so close to achieving what we set out to do.  Right now I am in need of five months of support, $1000 a month. I KNOW God will provide.  Please consider making a donation to Spero Ministries, http://speroministries.org/ Checks can be sent to 2002 Aster Way, Round Rock, TX, 78665.

All my love and thanks,

Cara

My friend Ryan and I in front of the art coop.  I was so thankful to have a friend that has supported me so much over the years here to visit.  Love you Ryan, thank you for being you!
